what you see, is what you get...

Welcome to our family blog! I enjoy making lists, but a journaler I am not! However, I really thought this would be a great way to keep in touch with people that we don't get to see or talk to nearly enough. Life gets so busy, so perhaps I can keep this current and in turn you as well!

34 Week Appt.

I had my doctor's appointment this morning and all is well. Baby's heartbeat was in the 130's and still measuring a little ahead. I was really trying to work out something to help with my sleepless (painful) nights. I got a couple new medication combinations to try. The next appointment will be more informative on my progress, although that doesn't always mean much either.

I had to share pictures of Wesley sound asleep last night with all his guys. Usually, they are just at the end of his bed but last night they kept him company. His monkey, Baby Alex, Baby George and his two blankies! He won't keep the clothes on his babies - despite the fact that we tell him they are freezing.

Bad Hair Days

Even Wesley has them! I really only like to take pictures of him when he looks so nice and camera ready...but I couldn't resist his worst hair day ever! I never have a problem sending him off to daycare unstyled but this is almost embarrassing! He even came home looking like this. I think it's time for a trim.

Giving me his cheesiest smile!

Here he is carrying mom's purse with his tough guy shirt on!

Dinner/Movie/Date...

is a rare occurrence for us! Fortunately, my dear sister Ashley offered up her Wednesday night to us. Shane and I went to Biaggi's to eat and it was fabulous! Seriously, we had pistachio crusted rainbow trout with raspberry sauce to chicken parmesan (for the less brave) and our favorite date dessert of creme brulee - all for under $60. It was delicious. Then we headed over to the theater to see Juno. I love, love, love that film. Plus, I found out that Monday through Thursday movie rates are only $6/person! We may just have to designate weeknights as date nights! Now if Wesley could just stay home alone...

Dedication

Baby Nick - Isn't he sooo cute!?
Today was Baby Nicholas Todd's dedication. We went to the church service and followed up with chili and playtime with all the cousins in North Branch. I love getting all the boys together because they have so much fun playing together! Wesley also asked to hold Baby Paige, a cousin on Laura's side. He was so proud to show his cousin's and called out to them, "Ethan, Dylan, look at me!" Of course, it was about a minute later that he said, "Okay, I am done." I am thinking that will be his attention span for the new baby as well. That is really all we did today to sum it up.

Tonight is Wesley's first night without a pull-up! I am feeling pretty confident in his ability to stay dry all night since he has woken up dry the past couple of weeks! Wish him luck!!!

Saturday

We only ventured out today to take a look at new front doors. I really want a new one because ours is just a plain fiberglass door and blah. I want one that is still fiberglass but is craftsman style with a window on top. Our entry doesn't have any sidelites or windows right now, so I feel like we need some light coming in. Plus, I love that you can stain the fiberglass to make it look like real wood. That may be a spring project...

We also broke out Wesley's 0-3 month clothing bins and did a load of laundry. We set up the pack-n-play and baby swing. It is really making this arrival feel imminent. I would like to paint the room green but we will see if get that ambitious this next month. We haven't even painted Wesley's room yet, so I can easily say it isn't a rush.

Wesley and Shane had a little man time this afternoon while I was editing some photos. They watched football and did a couple puzzles. When I came downstairs they were giving each other double knucks. You gotta love the man bond!

Slumber party

at daycare today! Wesley had pajama day at Ms. Julie's house. Here is a picture of the kids cozying up on an air mattress and watching a little bit of Happy Feet.

I worked my first 5 day week in over 3 years this week. Not too much fun but I can handle it for the next month or two. My plan is only to do it until the baby comes. I may also arrange to work those Fridays from home - we'll see!

We met up with another couple for dinner tonight at Joe Sensors. It worked out really great because we had plans to go out to eat and on our way our friends called us asking if we wanted to meet up. I love when last minute things work out!

My massage last night was fabulous!

Someone is nesting...

and it isn't me! Shane (who I know will read this) is driving me crazy! He is trying to organize stuff but it is all about how fast he can do it versus thinking about how we can make perfect. That is my little vent! It really isn't a complaint, I want to get organized as well but just to my level of perfection. ; ) I suppose we have been here three months already and it really is about time to get some stuff done before we get busier! I just know how hard it is to try and get someone (cough, cough) to change things later...so I want it to be just right!

I scheduled a prenatal massage for Thursday night. It was an awesome birthday gift from Ashley! I cannot believe I have held onto it since October. My thought was to save it for later pregnancy and post holiday relaxation - it will be so worth the wait!

Final note, I updated some previous post with some pictures.

Weekend Update

Update on the baby front... I had my 32 week appt. Friday and it went very well! I am very happy with my change in doctors. The baby's heart beat was in the 120's and the baby's head is down. I am measuring for 34 weeks and have another appt. in two weeks. Shane and I will also be scheduling a tour of the hospital (Fairview Southdale in Edina) as soon as possible.

Charity came into town on Friday, so we had a busy schedule for the weekend. We hit up the Mall of America Friday during the afternoon and scored some great after Xmas sales on shoes. We went to PS. I love you that evening and cried the entire 2 hours and 6 minutes. It was quite something and I am glad that we didn't see anyone that knew us. Saturday morning we got up and took off for Albertville Outlet shopping and I was happy to find the mall was less than 20 minutes from our house! Then we met up with some old friends (co-workers from our TCF days) in St. Cloud. It was super fun to catch up with them, enjoy some college cuisine (Mexican Village) and drive by some of our old stomping grounds. That evening Charity and I returned home and hung out with another girlfriend, Amber, for the evening. It was so nice to have a weekend that I could call my own! Thank you Charity for making that happen!!!

Wesley and Shane kept pretty busy all weekend too. Shane took his snowmobile in for repair and they spent some time with G&G K. They also went to Cabella's and Wesley came home with a nice Superman fishing pole. He is excited to use it this summer on Big Ryan's boat (hopefully)! They also made their first snowman today - I was quite impressed with it. As for myself, I was really tired all day and was pretty lazy. We have a full week of work ahead of us so I am glad that I was able to bum around today!

Frosty the Snowman slowly melting

Wesley and I were talking about the baby today when I was attempting to nap with him. It was so cute, he asked me if I ate the baby! I was confused at first but he was wondering how the baby got in my belly! After explaining that I did not eat the baby, he asked how it got in my belly then. I told him that Mommy and Daddy wanted a brother or sister for Wesley and that God helped us put it in my belly. Seriously, it was too cute. As for now, I think my explaination was good enough for Curious Wesley!

Happy New Year

Well, the Christmas tree is coming down today. I really don't want to take it down but the garbage will pick it up tomorrow so it is a must. I will slowly dismantle our holiday decor. It was nice to have some decorations up because it didn't make our house feel so blank. Oh well, that will be my ongoing project.

We really enjoyed the nice long weekend. It was busy, as usual, with Dylan's 3rd birthday party on Friday night. It is always fun to get all the cousins together. There were so many little guys it was pretty crazy! Many wrestling matches ensued. I know Wesley had a great time! Then on Saturday we had Shane's family Christmas. I know the boys loved opening all their gifts! Shane got in a little snowmobiling in this weekend and Wesley got his first snowmobile ride! We also brought in the new year with good food and good friends. All in all, a wonderful weekend.

Dylan and his Spiderman cake and the boys wrestling

We are all back in our routine today. Shane made his first commute to his new office location. He is now working out of the Plymouth UHC office. Very nice for him! He beat us home and had supper started - I cannot ask for more! I doubt that will be an everyday occurrence but it was nice that all of us were home by 5:15!

Well, I am hoping to get back to a regular report (if anyone cares)! I will have my 32 week check up on Friday and will be anxious to find out if I like my new doctor/clinic. The baby is moving around like crazy and making me nervous that we aren't ready for it!!
